Stargazing Sights

Curious about what’s in the sky above us? Read on to find out about the top solar events in November this year!

Humans have always been curious about space and the night sky as there is so much mystery surrounding it, so we wanted to share with you some of the spectacular sights you could see this month!

Hunter’s Supermoon

The Hunter's Supermoon will be at its closest point to Earth, appearing about 8% larger and 16% brighter than a typical full Moon. You might’ve seen this on November 4th and 5th.

Stars in Orion

On November 22nd, throughout the night you'll find one of the most recognisable constellations in the sky: Orion the hunter. Two stars in Orion - Betelgeuse and Rigel - shine especially bright. Looking up towards the east, these two starry giants are not to be missed.

Sirius

The last few days of November will reward us with Sirius, rising from the south-east. If viewed from the same distance, Sirius would be about 25 times more luminous than our Sun! It’s the brightest star visible from Earth (not counting the Sun).

Herstmonceux Observatory Stargazing Evening

On the 14th and 29th of November, you have the opportunity to go and stargaze at the Herstmonceux Observatory!
