Have A Cheaper, More Curious Christmas

Christmas doesn’t have to mean spending lots of money!

The team at Curious Agenda have pulled together some fun and creative ways to save some cash this holiday season.

Getting together:

  1. Host a pot-luck, where everyone you invite brings a dish. This way you aren’t spending a fortune trying to cater for everyone. They can even take home their dishes to wash so you don’t have to!
What you’ll need: some friends to invite, a little organising, some plates, cutlery, and ingredients for your dish!

  2. Organise a craft evening, where you can make decorations or cards together! Ask everyone who comes to bring any scrap paper and craft supplies they have kicking around, start a Pinterest Board of ideas, and get creative together!
What you’ll need: some friends to invite, scrap bits of paper, crafty bits you may have lying around, some glue, scissors, string, etc.

  3. Search for Christmas Games on your choice of social media platforms for Christmas Games for some fun activities that don’t cost the earth! Save a playlist and gather the bits needed for the games!
What you’ll need: a social media playlist of ‘Christmas Games’. Here are some of our favourites from Instagram:
Bum box with ping pong balls, dip the candy cane, human hungry hippos with baubles

Gift-giving:

  1. The offer of time to help support your loved one is generous and thoughtful. Use scrap paper to create your own gift cards & personalise to include what you could help them with: gardening or babysitting, for example. Or just as a commitment to spend time together.

  2. Home-made gifts are a lovely way to show you care. Why not make a tray of tiffin, slice it up and give it in leftover jars? Or home-made tree decorations

  3. Secret Santa is a brilliant way to reduce the amount of gifts you have to buy - why not tie that in with a budget and buying second-hand gifts only? Then you can get really curious and creative with your ideas!

We’d love to hear from you about your curious ideas, too! Send us an email at hello@curiousagenda.co.uk
